Mandatory Language for a Maximum Contaminant Level Violation
MCL, LRAA - TTHM/HAA5
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has notified the CRYSTAL FARMS WSC
PWS 2010012 public water system that the drinking water being supplied to customers had exceeded the Maximum Contaminant Level (MCL) for total trihalomethanes. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(U.S. EPA) has established the MCL for total trihalomethanes to be 0.080 milligrams per liter (mg/L) based on
a locational running annual average (LRAA) and has determined that it is a health concern at levels above the
MCL. Analysis of drinking water in your community for total trihalomethanes indicates a compliance value in;
· 1Q2025 of .089 mg/L for KELTNER LOOP FV ON 18838 FM 1797, TATUM (DBP2-02)
· 1Q2025 of .098 mg/L for 13863 CR 2214 N, TATUM (DBP2-01)
· 4Q2024 of .091 mg/L for 13863 CR 2214 N, TATUM (DBP2-01)
Trihalomethanes are a group of volatile organic compounds that are formed when chlorine, added to the water during the treatment process for disinfection, reacts with naturally‑occurring organic matter in the water.
Some people who drink water containing trihalomethanes in excess of the MCL over many years may experience problems with their liver, kidney, or central nervous systems, and may have an increased risk of getting cancer.
You do not need to use an alternative water supply. However, if you have health concerns, you may want to
talk to your doctor to get more information about how this may affect you.
We are taking the following actions to address this issue: (TTHM)
We have new staff and are monitoring the system, adding correct chemicals and flushing regularly

Chemical Sampling
CHEMICAL MONITORING, ROUTINE MAJOR
PWS 2010012 CRYSTAL FARMS WSC has violated the monitoring and reporting requirements set by Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) in Chapter 30, Section 290, Subchapter F. Public water systems are required to collect and submit chemical samples of water provided to their customers and report the results of those samples to the TCEQ on a regular basis.
We failed to monitor and/or report the following constituent and Monitoring Periods:
Constituent
Monitoring Period
NITRATE
4Q2024
Results of regular monitoring are an indicator of whet her or not your drinking water is safe from chemical contamination. We did not complete all monitoring and/or reporting for chemical constituents, and therefore TCEQ cannot be sure of the safety of your drinking water during that time.
What is being done?
__We have new staff that is monitoring the system with adding the correct chemicals and flushing
regularly.
